Does God wait until we call on Him, or is He so strongly involved in our lives that He takes the initiative?
2 Chronicles 16:9a (NIV)
The Lord is so interested in His people that His eyes constantly sweep over the earth. He is looking for everyone. This God doesn’t think it is a waste of time to invest in us. We are so precious and important to Him, that He offers us His powerful help!
What an initiative of a God, Who can do all things!
It is put so simply: He offers help. It occasionally happens that someone offers me help when I have a problem. My first thought is often: Is he able to help me? Does he know more than I do? What is his motive? Will it cost me anything? Often the other is indeed able to help. But sometimes the answers to those questions are uncertain or even worrying.
The help God offers is different. He is able to do anything and He definitely knows more than I do. His motive is love, and it will not cost me anything. No hidden motives or limited guaranties. This is why we can surrender ourselves completely to Him without having to worry.
To whom does He offer this help? To every seeker. The NIV states it this way: ‘to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him’ (2 Chronicles 16:9).
Are we His seekers? Are our hearts fully devoted to Him? Then He shall find us and He will offer us His almighty help.
